Field trip to Huertas Cape in Alicante

We were seeing the relief in this unit, as you saw from the last entry in this blog.
As well as doing the model relief, we did a field trip to see the different forms of relief at the beach "in situ", and to see how water and wind act as erosion agents.

First we had some lunch in a park:

then, we saw looked at the geographical coordinates at the lighthouse and used them to locate it in a map
we walked down to the actual cape
to see how the erosion creates different forms, in this case, sink holes and alveolar erosion

And finally, we walked the beach so that we could see how sand is created and find some marine organism.

All in all, it went very well, I believe the girls enjoyed it and learnt also, so I'm happy with the result.

I leave you the worksheet I created for the event and that we were working with.

ACTIVITIES
1.       Go to the lighthouse and find the geographical coordinates in the sign. Write them down and locate the exact point in this map:
Coordinates:

Then, take a picture of the group, showing the geographical coordinates.

2.       Take a picture of a microdoline, with at least one member of the group and explain how was it formed

3.       Take a picture of the alveolar erosion and guess how it was formed.

4.       In the sand, look for different marine organisms in the sand and take a picture of at least, 3 different ones with a member of the group in the picture.
